Access control

Access control involves implementing the systems needed to filter access via entrance halls, gates and automatic doors. Only authorised people should be able to access a building through these controlled access points: residents, security staff and service personnel using their fobs or remote controls.

Depending on the situation, systems which enable visitors from outside to enter through these controlled access points after being identified and authorised by the residents (intercom panel) are also available.

Access control generally comprises three components:

• A system for reading or identifying valid access devices: proximity readers, central control units, intercom panels.

• A management system enabling device surveillance: creation, cancellation, programming, authorisation, etc. More and more frequently, this means using a management website.

• Portable devices enabling the identification of authorised people: electronic fobs, HF radio remote controls.
