Wireless telephone intercoms

A telephone intercom is a telephony device fitted at the entrance to a residential building or next to an entrance which allows visitors to communicate with residents.

This communications device uses the fixed telephone network or the wireless GSM network and means that handsets in apartments can be replaced with the residents’ telephones.

Since 2003, Cogelec has diversified its business, moving into the intercom market. It recruited telecoms engineers and started marketing intercoms for the industrial sector before launching products for the residential building market. In 2005, the first telephone entry system panel left the factory with theINTRATONEname.

Cogelec has not lost sight of its main goal: to replace traditional intercom systems using handsets and cables with a standalone wireless intercom which can be fitted outside and can be used to call residents directly on their telephone (mobile and/or fixed line).

In 2007, INTRATONE TELECOM was founded in partnership with Orange® and became the first full-service telephony operator capable of providing intercom solutions for residential buildings over the telephone network.

Success came immediately thanks to this shift away from traditional intercoms, leading to significant savings on installation and maintenance whilst simplifying management thanks to integrated services (remote management over the Internet or by voice mailbox, SMS sent to residents, etc.).

In 2011, Cogelec launched its "villa intercom" for private homes and small, low-cost apartment buildings. In this way, Cogelec can cover the entire intercom market by offering appropriate solutions tailored to each site's needs.
